I currently help redefine mobile as an Associate Creative Director on the Xfinity MobileProduct & Design Team. What does that mean exactly? I live at the intersection of technology and product, leading a nimble and tenacious band of forward-thinking designers all in service of launching a new, more modern approach to mobile.
Leading by Design
Collaboration across teams and stakeholders is important, especially when fording into innovative opportunities. As a design leader, I believe it takes audacity to push for something new, but also the methodology and discipline to build collective agreement alongside congruent momentum. Leading requires a direction to lead our teammates towards and I work to help our teams build cases for the direction.
Leading and leadership are behaviors, not titles. I believe the role of leaders are to serve and as such, I do my best to support my colleagues as well as my own leaders where I may. In the context of our product and design work, it’s not just about serving the work, our customers, and our very own leaders, but especially about serving the people we lead and what we are leading them towards. We have a responsibility and privilege to earn and uphold the trust of those we lead.
"When you build a tribe of people you support, you're building a tribe that will support you." ― First Round
My deliverable output typically ranges the design spectrum with discovery work through whiteboarding, UX flows to wireframes, higher fidelity UI artifacts to strategic presentations.
Conveying concepts across teams and departments requires translation and interpretation. Well-designed products connect our interactions with the interactions of those for whom we design. In this regard, I view designing experiences as very much about opportunity towards relating and relationships.
